Saturday was our last day in Barcelona and the day that Mauricio's plane landed. We slept in and spent the morning packing. Closer to lunch we drove Roberto, Sarah, and Dominique to the Mercado de La Boqueria market, where they shopped and ate tapas for lunch, many street performers (samba, and instrumental) entertained. All the others drove to the airport to pick up Mauricio. All met up at the Museu Nacional D’Art de Catalunya, where Roberto, Sarah, Eva and Dominique visited the museum and all others went with Mauricio to the Sagrada Familia Cathedral. The museum was very large and we only spent time visiting the Romanic and Modern sections. We then met up with all the family at the The Cathedral of Barcelona to have dinner. At the Cathedral we were entertained by a local string ensemble and watched many local people dance the Sardana, a historical catalonian dance that was forbidden in Franco’s rule. We dined at Restaurant El Cercle on the terrace and had a wonderful dinner of tapas and mains, with sangria, cava, red wine, and port, with excellent desserts. It is the same restaurant that Paco recommended for lunch last week. We then encountered opera singers on the way back to the parked car. The soccer game between Germany and Italy pulled the soccer lovers to the tv, but we made it home before the end of the game.
